How to Submit Your Mobile App to the Google Play Store

Apps developed for Android mobile phones are available on the Google Play Store. You need to follow a publishing process to submit your mobile app to the Google Play Store.

Prepare Application for Release – This is a multi-step task that needs to be completed before an app can be published on the Google Play Store.

Configure Your App for Publishing – this will require removal of any call logs and make sure that your manifest file has the debugger attribute removed. Check Google Play requirements for other settings to configure prior to publishing.

Build and Sign a Release Version of the App – this needs to be done using the tools in the Android SDK.

Test the Release Version of Your App – upload your app to a handset to for testing. This will allow you to see if there are any bugs that need to be corrected.

Upload Any Application Resources – all multimedia files and images need to be included with the app or transferred to a production server.

Prepare Servers and Services – if your app requires an external server or service, then they should be at a production-ready status. You will have a signed .apk file to distribute to users when you are done preparing the app for release.

Releasing Your Application

Prepare Your Promotional Materials – create promotional materials for your app. This includes making a screenshot, a video demonstration, and having a description of the app.

Configure Any Options and Upload Assets – Google Play settings can be configured to target a certain country or demographic and the price for your app. You can also add a content rating and category. All of your promotional materials will need to be uploaded with an unpublished copy of your app.

Publish a Release Version of Your App – Click the Publish option on the Developer Console when you are ready to release your app and make it live to users.
